Sexual Tactics

More and more stories begin to seep out of Guantanamo Bay. The latest being the sexual abuse of detainees. I guess many will dismiss this either as lies or simply insignificant. And there has been more than one smug comment on the Internet so far, belittling the story and the clients. This simply will not do. This is on the same level as the filth that took place in Abu Ghraib. It goes far beyond any form of physical torture from my perspective. The United States has no honour and they are proving it time and again.
It’s not just that they are torturing religious groups based on their beliefs but they also seek to make the practise into a common sense way of treating so called terrorists. In a brutal and foul way, the US government and its branches have learned a few things over the years about the social nature of human beings. Not something I didn’t already know but it is disgusting to see the ideas put to use. The best parallel I can draw upon is the Nazi concentration camps which had, in reality, a broader meaning than just being death factories. They were designed to break what little remained of social structure and hope, to degrade and make the human condition one of loneliness and inner terror. Many have pointed out that is indeed something worse than death in being deindividualized, stripped of all human characteristics and sent into oblivion. It depraves death of what little honour and completion there is. And that is also what is happening here and most likely at countless US influenced holding facilities around the world. It’s an unspeakable use of means that no end can justify.
