Brothers in Terror

One might be wondering how the nations of the world deal with the rising terror threat. Or at least the perceived threat that we’re told is about to destroy us all. We are all too familiar with the developments in the United States of course. According to Amnesty, many more nations have taken the opportunity to clamp down on dissenting voices under the pretence of the war on terror. But that is old news and it may or may not be relevant. The question is how powerful, industrialized nations with firmly rooted democracies are being changed. For example, many have questioned recent developments in the United Kingdom and asked if Britain may be sliding into police state. The common trait being that these transformations are all orchestrated from the highest political level and are sweeping by design.
Frederick Forsyth has plunged into the same debate saying that terror powers expose tyranny. He argues that during his life, there has been a constant threat against Britain. There is always someone out there that may or may not want to damage one’s country and may or may not make good on threats. The point that Forsyth is trying to make and one that people should take the time to appreciate is that even through the darkest of times, many far worse than anything we are seeing today, Britain managed to stay firm and not invade civil liberties. But now, civil liberties are going out the window on a whim.
By the early seventies it was terrorism as well. Al Fatah, Black September, Red Brigades, but most of all for us the IRA and the INLA.
Thirty more years; 300 policemen and women, over 600 soldiers, more than 3,000 civilians dead, but we won because even IRA bombs could not force us to become a tyranny. That was why the tyrants lost.
How right he is. One could also argue that terror is not, as many falsely view it, an instrument of the impoverished, but rather of the powerful. What is being created by governments all around the world is true terror. The elites take advantage of the times to further their own ambitions of wealth and power. This is a rare opportunity for some that they will not pass up.
