The Smell of Terror

February 27th, 2005 at 19:12 Björn Hallberg

I know something else that stinks. Wired ran a story a few days back titled Watchdogs Sniff Out Terror Sites where they heralded Aaron Weisburd and his radical "Internet Haganah", where open threats and religious ravings mix with blatant and self-righteous attacks on free speech. Wired makes it sound like they’re doing a good deed.
Isn’t it about time that someone harassed and threatened his hosting company and put him off the net. Just to see how nice the practise is and how much better the world would be if we all just lunged at everything we didn’t like. And how much more cooperative and reconciliatory it makes people. Granted of course that cooperation and not annihilation is what you’re after. Nice work Adolf. What Aaron and his cronies fail to take into account, what these people always neglect to see, is of course the slight imbalance of power here. Really brave and constructive, going after the pariahs of the contemporary world, those that have been forsaken and trampled upon by the powers that be.

Internet Haganah and Aaron Weisburd, with their obvious Jewish connection, should know better. They damn well should know better. Not only are their methods counterproductive to accomplishing any kind of dialogue and lasting understanding, but they are also reminiscent of pre-WWII Germany. Which they may or may not be able to see, but what they can comprehend is irrelevant. It stands as an indication of something far more dire and it makes me wonder what they’re really after here. Justice, peace, cooperation or just a little genocide on the side of total domination? I guess that places like the Internet Haganah thrive on the fact that few have the guts to question them. Their Jewish connection is a shield that makes them virtually untouchable, at least by anyone with any sense of social self-preservation, and makes people sympathetic to their cause, or more likely uneasy around it. Enough not to get involved. Uneasy about even using the words "Jew" or "Jewish" which are almost proprietary these days. All of this obviously makes any type of viable criticism difficult.
Now, if you don’t agree, it’s about time to slander me by using the old anti-Semitism defense and attack.  Apologetics, counter-conspiracies and all that. Though the definition of the term is probably beyond your comprehension and has long since been hijacked and warped by radical right wing Zionists. Good for them.

Aaron Weisburd’s words about searching out extremism sound insincere after having taken a look at his site. Lets face it, it’s also out there. And he goes far beyond the task he has appointed to himself. He gloats and leans on religious emotionally potent oversimplifications.

And besides, the notion that private enterprises should do anything of the sort is disconcerting. The article mentions the "Search for International Terrorist Entities Institute" also as an example of this. But they fail to take a stand against this, which is kind of weird coming from Wired. Again, they should also know better. It’s the same thing as when such entities as the RIAA and MPAA, i.e. private corporations, are allowed to police society. To be above and beyond the law for the benefit, not of the greater good, but themselves.
The other link here is obviously that both the Internet Haganah and the Media Industry both serve and are integral part of the contemporary hegemony. How original. It’s like stealing candy from children. And it can only end in a Gestapo-relationship of bullying, denouncing and fear. I mean come on, it’s a good thing the government can’t track everything its citizens do, nor monitor the Internet. It’s sound and sane. But some ass kissing lapdog always comes around with the intention of changing that. And that is where humanity withers and the seeds of totalitarianism take root.

It has been a long year. The author is currently biding his time. Lets just say the journal is on a prolonged and much needed vacation. In the meantime you can be sure that I’m watching you all. I guess that at some point I will get so angry that I will in fact have to write something.
