Rumsfeld vs Venezuela

March 24th, 2005 at 20:41 Björn Hallberg

Via Agonist. Yes, the not so eloquent or talented Mr. Rumsfeld is out stirring up trouble again. This time in Venezuela. Yes indeed. The same place where the Bush administration tried to incite a coup in 2002. And to answer Rumsfeld’s question, I think they are going to use those weapons to defend themselves against further American black ops.
Now they’re calling Hugo Chávez a "negative force" in Latin America. Talk about the pot calling the kettle black. Lets not forget that the man is democratically elected, which is no more or less than you can say about the US regime.

Lets also take step back and examine the reasons for the US backed coup d’état. Because it stands to reason that the US feels it has unfinished business in Latin America. And Venezuela is an annoying roadblock in those plans. And besides, Venezuela has proved to be quite a champion for poorer nations and introduced a fair amount of ideas into OPEC that would dramatically lessen the value of the dollar. If that is not reason enough, I don’t know what is.
