US and UK Allowed Iraqi Oil Scam

Via Global Policy Forum. Last week Kofi Annan blasted the US and UK over their part in the Iraqi oil snafu. The mainstream media did not provide much coverage however.
It is also widely acknowledged that the Iraqi regime earned far more from sanctions-busting - up to $11bn (£5.8bn) - than from bribes from oil companies working under the oil-for-food programme, which earned Saddam’s officials an estimated $2bn to $4bn.
The US called it a "waiver". I call it "the pot calling the kettle black." Since the US has pursued these allegations and spearheaded the dirty game to bring Annan down and discredit the UN, they have exposed themselves to scrutiny and better be prepared to accept their part. One should not make such allegations if one is not himself on a solid moral ground. But that is the hypocrisy that is the US and what has guided the nation since it’s birth.
