UK: Ban on preparing, inciting or glorifying violence

July 20th, 2005 at 18:53 Björn Hallberg

They certainly don’t waste any time.

The government will seek new anti-terror measures including three new criminal offences and the power to deport and exclude extremists, home secretary Charles Clarke told MPs on Wednesday.

Mr Clarke said in a Commons statement that people who preached, wrote articles or ran websites that fomented or provoked terrorism would be banned from the UK.

The home secretary already has the authority to exclude those who threaten national security or public order. But he now proposes extending his powers to cover a wider range of “unacceptable behaviour”.

The government is to set up a database of extremists from around the world. Anyone on the list who wants to enter the UK will have their case referred to ministers and could be excluded from the country.

Now, the question is, can I be on the list? Pretty please?
