Sweden increases Palestinian aid

February 20th, 2006 at 19:36 Björn Hallberg

The Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency (SIDA) has decided to step up aid for the Palestinian people as other donors have opted out willy-nilly after the Hamas victory and the dog and pony show that was orchestrated from Tel Aviv and Washington. Not only will the U.S. betray its past pledges, but since Israel is now withholding tax and customs revenue that it collects on behalf of the Palestinians, the would-be nation is now almost entirely dependent on aid. Aid that will be cut off indefinitely due to the U.S. strong-arming donors.

The SIDA pledge isn’t much in the grand scheme of things, but it shows a backbone and a humanitarian consideration that alas has been lost to most in the political power play that followed the election. It is heartwarming to be able to stick it to the United States and Israel and make a humanitarian statement at the same time. Other nations may let themselves be terrorized by the New World Order, but hope still lives in Sweden.

The real issue should not be the measly millions given to the Palestinians, but rather the BILLIONS in “aid,” beneficial loans, and arms that prop up Israel’s human rights abuses every year, while Palestinians not only live in destitution but are also subjugated, killed and humiliated by that “aid.” But of course no one dares to question that.
