David Irving jailed for ‘thought crimes’

You know strange things are afoot in Europe when someone is sentenced to three years in prison for “denying” the Holocaust (Industry) while insulting the religious sensibilities of Muslims as well as grave racist slur are praised as pillars of free speech. Irving may be dodgy and his opinions may have changed back and forth over time, but things are really going to hell in handbasket when a peripheral British historian, who hasn’t written a well-read book in decades, is the center of attention and his whereabouts and past writings brought up to a government level. Something has definitely changed in the last couple of years and it doesn’t take much effort to figure out that this is primarily due to the integration and use of the Holocaust in official American and Israeli policy. As opposition to these rogue nations has stiffened, so have their efforts to justify their reign of terror and to physically and mentally stifle any sort of resistance … even curiosity that endangers their supremacy.
Also … interestingly enough, Norman Finkelstein has been taking a lot of heat these last couple of days despite him having never, to my knowledge, handled the topic in any conclusive manner. He may have written the “Holocaust Industry” but for anyone who has actually read the book, it is not dwelling on the past but rather analysing how the Holocaust is used as leverage in the present. For that purpose one does not need to question the official story and so he does not. And as Finkelstein is constantly referencing Raul Hilberg whom he clearly admires and agrees with (conversely, Hilberg hailed the Holocaust Industry as a “breakthrough” and noted that it was indeed “conservative”), well, wouldn’t it stand to reason that Hilberg is also a “Holocaust Denier?”
Deborah Lipstadt for some reason felt obliged to refer to Finkelstein as “dirt you step in on the street” and the New York Post libelled Finkelstein by listing him as a “labelled Holocaust Denier” (labelling courtesy of the ADL) in a “worst of the worst” list, including Irving, Zündel, Iran’s president, chess master Bobby Fischer and … Mel Gibson’s father (!).
It seems the Industry has taken the opportunity to rid itself of some old and bitter enemies. And some just got thrown in there because they couldn’t find ten people in the entire world that really qualified for the list by any serious standard. In the midst of this they also seize the opportunity to nibble away at the scholarly opposition. The agenda is thinly veiled indeed.
