Medialens: Iraq Body Count

April 11th, 2006 at 06:54 Björn Hallberg

Medialens Media Alert is once more taking issue with the Iraq Body Count and their lowballing of casualties. They correctly note that there is something fishy going on when those that ought to be offended are actually embracing the IBC’s findings and using it in their own government-linked propaganda. The same findings that as I recall it were initially dismissed by the same corporate media as nothing but nonsense. But with the death toll in Iraq surely numbering in the hundreds of thousands, the modest IBC figure is once more in fashion and a once promising source of news has been turned into a powerful doctrinal weapon by the powers that be. And the same shady cabal are likely thrilled that they have sown discord and that the alternative media outlets are busy going after each other.
