IVAW Statement on MacBeth Video

Now, this seems very suspicious indeed. I guess most would have seen the Jesse MacBeth video by now and how it has been bashed by the pro-war crowd. Well, the basic premise so far has been that Jesse isn’t who he claims to be and that the IVAW (which features during the clip) were either duped or willfully spread disinformation. As it turns out, the IVAW had no part in the making of the interview.
IVAW - Iraq Veterans Against the War recently learned of a video interview with Jesse MacBeth that directs viewers to IVAW’s website and phone number. IVAW was not made aware of the creation of this video program and our input on it was never sought by its producers. Jesse MacBeth is not a spokesperson for IVAW and any claims made by MacBeth about his service have not been verified. We are currently investigating these claims and will have a full statement pending its resolution.
And so we are left with three alternatives. (1) MacBeth is essentially telling the truth despite discrepancies or (2) “Peacefilms” (site has been taken down) were duped or willfully spread propaganda. The wildest possibility, but nonetheless a viable one, is that (3) the video was produced by some pro-war group for the purpose of rebutting it and discrediting soldiers’ testimonies in general. Considering the orchestrated and almost uniform work of the empire and genocide apologists, one shouldn’t rule it out. The Wikipedia talk article for MacBeth elaborates on this suspicion.
