NRA spawns fear of U.N. takeover

The debate over small arms is on. As usual, one would be a fool to think the US would be of much help in drafting any sensible international agreement. It’s just not in their best interest to appear reliant on the UN. And besides, who needs gun control when you have carpet bombing and cruise missiles, right? Not to mention that illegal gunrunning is one of the principal ways to conduct the now infamous low intensity conflicts that are lauded by the American elites. Like the 200.000 AK47s the US ‘lost’ not to long ago.
Interestingly, the National Rifle Association cropped up in the debate with the usual world government fear mongering (as if the UN had just been feigning impotence and was really about to take over the US). The claim of course was that Americans would be losing rights under the Second Amendment, namely their right to bear arms, under some new and draconian (but ultimately misinterpreted / non-existent) UN treaty.
Unfortunately, Americans aren’t as interested in the very real and ongoing curtailing of their constitutional rights (by their own ‘elected’ government) as they are concerned with vague conspiracies purportedly orchestrated by the UN.
