Oh, those devious dead babies

August 5th, 2006 at 17:10 Björn Hallberg

Israel would like the world to know it is up against some pretty stiff opposition. Despite a state of the art war machine courtesy of America and a steady trickling of American aid and private contributions, not to mention a desensitized and highly militarized populace, they are losing this latest conflict of their own invention. So what did get them? Was it the bottle rockets fired aimlessly by the Hezbollah? No, in fact, it was the devious dead babies (via The Truth Will Set You Free) out to get the Jewish state.

“How do words — no matter how true and rational — compete with photos of wailing mothers carrying their dead babies?” asks Dean Rotbart, host and executive producer of the program. “It is next to impossible to try to go on camera and explain any justification whatsoever for the compelling visual images that are aired over and over again.”

The problem according to these particular apologists is that Israel doesn’t parade its own dead enough. Plus the devious babies who just refuse to live despite Israel’s best efforts and tons of bombs dropped on them. And besides people don’t think with their heads apparently?

“Yet if the world at large thinks with its heart instead of its head, terrorism will prevail,” Rotbart said. “Indeed, the terrorists understand and harness the enormous power of emotional news coverage to win support for their deadly goals.”

I thought everyone knew by now that one should think with one’s gut, not one’s head. But seriously, be glad people don’t think with ‘their heads’ or the masses may come to a rather unpleasant conclusion about the origins of Israel, its historical crimes and how to put an end to the conflict in the middle-east. That is what my head told me anyway when I was eventually enticed to look it up. So stick to the heart as it is more easily swayed. Oh, and the surest way to turn the PR tide around obviously — stop killing babies.

This story now replaces last week’s proclamation by a Rabbinical Council that “during a time of battle and war, there is no such term as ‘innocents’ of the enemy” as the most sickening and revealing story to come from Israel or its supporters.

It has been a long year. The author is currently biding his time. Lets just say the journal is on a prolonged and much needed vacation. In the meantime you can be sure that I’m watching you all. I guess that at some point I will get so angry that I will in fact have to write something.
