And in a fairly bold way too. The hate campaign being directed by the notorious Wiesenthal Centre and other Israeli interest groups aims to isolate Venezuela like they have Iran and gain some bonus credits with the US by impeding human rights and fair trade in the region.

The US stands poised for saber-rattling as Wayne Madsen puts it. Surely, there will be more than just displays in the near future, pending of course the outcome of next year’s elections in Nicaragua, Peru, and Mexico.
Wayne Madsen Report - Southern Command is planning a saber-rattling military exercise in Paraguay in 2006 called “Fuerzas Comando [...]

Now that is a colorful campaign slogan you don’t hear too often.
CS Monitor - Evo Morales is an unorthodox candidate. He’s a former IIama herder and coca farmer, and an indigenous Indian with an eighth-grade education. His platform rests on ending Bolivia’s 20 years of free-market economic policies, and decriminalizing the growing of coca, the [...]

Futile perhaps but the idea is certainly infectious.
Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez has extended a preferential oil trade deal to 13 Caribbean countries in what he says is part of a plan to challenge U.S. economic domination of the region.
Under his plan, called PetroCaribe, Venezuela will soon sell up to 190,000 barrels of fuel a day [...]

Democracy Now! notes that …
The Miami Herald is reporting that the U.S.-funded National Endowment for Democracy has agreed to give a leading opposition group in Venezuela over $100,000 in funding. The group - Sumate - helped lead the effort to oust Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez through a recall referendum last year. The recall failed. Backers [...]
